Double Day Movers was started in 1976 by Tom & Cheryl Ringelmann. During the first four years of operation the company was engaged in small office and residential moving.

In 1980 Double Day was hired by Levi Strauss to effect the consolidation of 2,500 employees from its various San Francisco offices into its new headquarters at Levi Plaza. The visibility and enhanced credibility that resulted from this project, coupled with the dramatic increase in revenue, established Double Day as one of the largest office and industrial relocation companies in the San Francisco Bay Area office and industrial moving market.

Since that time, Double Day Movers has gradually worked to increase its market share in the Bay Area by providing conscientious, considerate and responsive services. Double Day's crews have gained the reputation for working efficiently with spirit and enthusiasm. This reputation has allowed us to increasingly direct our growth beyond San Francisco into the South Bay, East Bay and Marin County. This effort was successful, netting jobs with major corporations throughout the Bay Area.

The company’s 28th anniversary ushered in many changes in 2003. While Double Day earned honors as one of the Bay Area’s 100 Largest Women-Owned Businesses, its status as a leading Bay Area Office and Industrial relocation provider was reaffirmed by San Jose State and San Francisco State Universities’ decision to award Double Day their multi-year relocation contracts. Double Day was also re-contracted by Xilinx, IRS & EPA, and many other large organizations to continue providing moving, installation & warehouse services.
In 2004 increased demand for Double Day’s services propelled the company to expand into a larger office & warehouse facility in South San Francisco, and to acquire four additional moving vans to supplement its existing fleet.

In 2008, Steffen Ringelmann, the son of founders Tom & Cheryl Ringelmann, joined the company to head the sales department. His addition has assured Double Day will continue to build market share into its third decade of operation. As it was in 1976, Double Day remains committed to maintaining high standards of quality and meeting our clients’ wide range of relocation needs.
